Idomeni is a small Greek town on the border with Macedonia. Between 2014 and 2015 it became a safe passage that many Syrians, Afghans and Pakistanis used to continue their journey through Europe once they reached the Greek coasts. In 2015, a huge wire fence was erected and closed, leaving thousands of families struggling to survive while waiting for the Macedonian police to open the border. After months of survival in the worst conditions, in 2016 they were finally transferred to different government camps distributed throughout Greece. There they remain, isolated and forgotten on European soil.
