Phoenicians

Stories from the Mediterranean

Known by the Greeks as “men of purple”, more than five thousand years ago the Phoenicians laid the first stone of what is today our civilization, connecting ports of cities that would never again be strange. In one hand the control of the sea and in the other the alphabet turned the Mediterranean Sea into a civilization with a common character. This work aims to stop at those scenarios and look into the eyes of the natural descendants of those men and women. Wondering what remains of that extraordinary spirit beyond centuries of wars, languages, cultures and diverse religions. The Mediterranean basin is going through difficult times. Lebanon and Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus... today more than ever it is necessary to draw on our historical legacy as a link.
